The Basics of Estate Administration

After the passing of a loved one, the logistical aspect of “wills and estates” are often not the focus or the priority of the family, nor should they be. Luckily, we’re here to help in any of these circumstances to alleviate the possible stress of this situation. To start, we will go over some of the basics of estate administration. 

Death and Debt

In most cases, the debt of a deceased relative is paid by the estate. When this is not possible, the debt is often forgiven, and “disappears”, with the exception of “shared loans”. Mortgages shared by a spouse, for example, would not disappear.
